Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about hiring a horse trailer with us.
Do I need a special driving licence to tow a horse trailer?
For most of our trailers, a standard Category B UK driving licence is sufficient, provided the combined weight of your towing vehicle and trailer does not exceed 3,500kg. If you passed your test after 1 January 1997 you may need to check the B+E entitlement on your licence. We're happy to advise when you get in touch.
What towing vehicle will I need?
You'll need a vehicle with a towbar rated to at least the trailer's nose weight, and a maximum towing capacity that exceeds the gross trailer weight. As a general guide, a 4x4 or large estate works well for our standard double. We can recommend minimum tow ratings for each trailer.
Is insurance included in the hire price?
Our trailers are insured while in use. However, your own vehicle's towing insurance must be valid. Many standard car insurance policies include trailer cover — check your policy before booking.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least a week in advance, especially for weekends and show season (April–October). We do our best to accommodate last-minute requests — give us a call and we'll see what we can do.
